The global food processing giant partnered with JLL's Design Solutions team to create a Singapore office that focuses on employee well-being, fosters collaboration, and incorporate sustainable design features, reflecting their belief in the health of the planet.
A culture rooted in health and wellness
A leading nutrition-focused food and beverage producer, the client's belief in the health of the planet and its people has guided their business and culture.
When it came time to design their new Singapore office, the global leader in health foods needed to work with a design partner who understood the importance of sustainability at the workplace and could help them bring their people-centric vision to life.
A key focus for their new office space was employee wellness. Balancing the design across the company’s many brands – from bottled water to dairy and plant-based products – also presented a challenge.
Beyond aesthetics, the forward-thinking organisation sought to move away from a traditional office layout to an open, agile space that fosters collaboration and connection, which would ultimately empower them to attract and keep the best talent in the business.
Building partnership based on shared ideals
The JLL Design Solutions team’s approach to office design resonated with the client’s vision of a sustainable, wellness-focused workspace.
For their office fit-out, the health food company was able to tap into JLL’s keen understanding of the future of work, and our commitment to providing a bespoke suite of solutions that met their business goals and their employees’ needs.
With the client’s trust in our approach and capabilities, we were able to work closely along the design process and arrive at key decisions with confidence.
Designing a healthier way to work
Our design approach revolved around maximising the natural light afforded by the office space, integrating outdoor vistas, infusing biophilic elements, and opting for neutral wood and cream tones.
Focal green walls were complemented by calming shades of blues and greens, creating a visually pleasing and refreshing work environment. These elements set a strong foundation for the client to bring its sustainable and healthy workplace to life.
Quirky lighting fixtures, unique ceiling designs, and textured materials inject the client’s vibrant culture and personality into the space.
To minimise environmental impact of the office fit-out and align with the food company's philosophy, our Design Solutions team reused existing furniture from the company’s previous office where possible. Sustainable materials such as carpet finish, laminate, paint, lighting selection, re-use furniture and greenery were incorporated throughout the design. The JLL team also partnered with vendors who work with sustainably-sourced materials for new furniture and build components.
Empowering employees with the right office features
The JLL Design Solutions team had to ensure that the workplace catered to employees with diverse work styles, so they have what they need to achieve their tasks for the day.
With a larger number of employees expected to return to the office, it was also important for the office layout to be flexible to accommodate for evolving space requirements, while fostering the client’s culture of collaboration through communal and social zones.
The design team utilised modular furniture that can be easily reconfigured to suit different work styles and activities. These flexible spaces could accommodate any event from formal townhall gatherings to quick and casual discussions.
A sustainable office for a healthy workforce
The team involved JLL’s in-house sustainability experts to assess metrics such as energy usage, indoor air quality, sustainable operations and addition of green design features, ensuring that the client’s new office adheres to Green Mark standards.
The client’s new Singapore office is a vibrant, healthy, and collaborative place to work. The futureproof workplace offers ample room for colleagues to find community while accomplish their goals.
The food company’s new office reflects its commitment to employee well-being and environmental responsibility, and serving as a testament to the impact that the right partnership can make for any organisation’s office culture.
