2021: Continued impact from the pandemic
The economy, with full-year growth, is expected to end in positive territory for 2021. However, the pandemic continued to impact most of the Indonesian real estate market last year.
Office demand was limited since occupiers continued to review their real estate portfolios and adopted consolidation and optimisation strategies throughout the year. Several new shopping mall projects were completed, with limited new store openings due to social restrictions. In addition, condominium sales remained subdued; hence, developers were highly cautious about launching new projects.
Conversely, modern logistics warehouses and landed residential property continued to be resilient amid the pandemic.
