JLL Hotels & Hospitality Group adds to bench of senior talent

Seasoned hotel investment specialist Gabriel Stubbe joins global real estate firm amid buoyant investment activity in Asia Pacific

June 21, 2019

SINGAPORE, 21 June 2019 – JLL Hotels & Hospitality has appointed Gabriel Stubbe as Senior Vice President, Investment Sales Asia. With a mandate to drive business growth and strengthen market presence, Mr Stubbe will serve developers, REITs, family office clients, private equity and sovereign wealth funds across the region.

Based in Singapore, Mr Stubbe brings with him 18 years of experience across private and public sectors. He was previously focused on hospitality investments at Colony Capital, Grove International Partners, and Hyatt. Gabriel has also served on several REIT boards listed on the SGX including OUE Commercial REIT, First REIT and Eagle Hospitality Trust. He will report to Nihat Ercan, Head of Investment Sales Asia, JLL Hotels & Hospitality.

“We forecast that Asia Pacific’s hotel investment volumes will grow by 15 per cent this year, so this is the right time to enhance our capabilities with additional talent,” says Mr Ercan. “It’s a real pleasure to welcome Gabriel on board. His strong understanding of industry trends and in-depth market knowledge will boost our investment sales services, enabling us to help maximise the value of our clients’ assets and minimise risk in their portfolios.”

According to JLL’s latest research, Asia Pacific achieved a 12 per cent growth in hotel transaction volumes year-on-year in the first quarter of 2019, driven by a 50 per cent spike in China. Meanwhile, Japan recorded the highest number of hotel transactions in the region over the same period.

Mr Ercan adds: “We remain particularly confident about the region’s tourism and economic potential and investors are actively looking to tap into opportunities from resort assets to core city centre hotels. We anticipate record levels of available capital will continue to drive hotel investment momentum over the course of the year and beyond.”

“It’s an exciting time as real estate investors continue to increase their portfolio allocations to hotels and hospitality assets,” says Mr Stubbe. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join the JLL Hotels & Hospitality team and look forward to working closely with clients and colleagues across the region.”

Gabriel holds a Master of Business Administration from Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island, United States.
