Finding the silver lining to feed Orlando’s hungry

A canceled event due to COVID-19 benefits a local food bank.

When the coronavirus outbreak flared up in the United States early March, JLL made a last-minute cancellation of its annual property management and facilities management development event in Florida.

JLL Event Director, Justin Rhodes, CMP, immediately went into high gear to ensure all of the food earmarked for the event would go to people who needed it.

Working with JLL leadership and our event partners at the Orlando World Center Marriott, Justin arranged for a donation of 2,700 pounds of all non-perishable foods for the 1,000+ person conference to go to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.

“I was really happy that we were able to work quickly to donate a significant amount of food to help others during this crisis,” Justin said.

Second Harvest is one of 200 food banks in the Feeding America network, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization with which JLL has had a long-standing relationship.

Millions of Americans turn to food banks for much-needed support, now more than ever. JLL employees have donated nearly one million meals to Feeding America. Please consider donating to Feeding America to help.
